This new Animated Musical is a mess... But it's a fun mess.

The story is about a down on his luck koala stage manager (voiced by Matthew Mcconaughey) who comes up with a talent show scheme to draw in revised popularity to avoid the closure of his theater.

The film that is fun to look at , and also boasts a star studded cast featuring Reese Witherspoon, Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, Tori Kelly, John C. Reilly, and Garth Jennings. Despite the strength of the cast,  the story is subsided by a generic script and shallow structure. There are some great moments and it is not by any means a terrible film.  It means well and has a great message, but lacks consistency and comes off as forgettable.

While children will certainly love it, film lovers will either take it or leave it. I can't say I was too big on the song choices, with a majority of them being recent billboard hit, however there are some good moments in between the musical numbers, delivering cliched, but heartwarming sequences of acceptance and courage overcoming adversity.

Ultimately, Sing falls flat due to an unexciting presentation of overly done material.   If you enjoy musical films and aren't expecting a world changing experience, then Sing will delight with its bubbly performances and routine exposition.
