One False Move

1991. Directed by Carl Franklin.

This is one of my all time favorite films. A script written by Bill Bob Thorton (with him as one of the villains) depicts a low down crime story about a trio of criminals and their collision with destiny.

The standout of this masterpiece is Bill Paxton as Dale "Hurricane" Dixon, the local law in the town that the trio are heading to. The film throws a somewhat predictable curveball that adds a level of depth to the plot that works, despite itself.

Some amazing dialogue and just flat out brutal scenes of violence blend together to produce a film that stays with you long after the credits, dealing with topics of racism, big vs. little city law enforcement, and most importantly the idea of fate and being in the right place at the right time.

Available on DVD.
